Not enough interpreters

It really doesn't make much sense to me why the military has discharged some of the best and the brightest people simply because of their sexual orientation. Many of the best and most qualified people who were interpreters were LGBT people. Yet they are using 'Don't ask, Don't tell' as a witch hunt to rout them out when they are in dire need of qualified help. It just doesn't make sense. Just like in the civil war Blacks were not allowed to fight and again during the first world war. It wasn't until an all black battalion showed them that they could fight as well or better than the rest of the troops.
My suggestion is why not set up a LGBT unit to fight or interpret Arabic. Perhaps they can prove that they can perform as well or better than their counterparts. I'll bet that if they set up a gay unit that they will outperform the rest of them. Its worth a try. Perhaps then they will change Don't ask, don't tell or abolish it entirely. Wouldn't that be something?
