Don't get me wrong
It sounds as if I hate George Bush. I don't, I just don't like his politics. I really wish he would stop pandering to the religious fanatics. Its ok to be religious, but lets not let it become the central theme of the presidency. Although he doesn't show it, his choices speak louder than words. Some of the people he has chosen to surround himself with although at first glance seem to be moderate on the outside, are actually quite extreme on the inside. Take for example John Ashcroft, a zealot if there ever was one. His unrelenting fervor to stamp out all forms of pornography is prime example. Now at first glance we agree that that isn't all bad. Child pornography should be stopped or at least curbed to the point that it is no more than a minor annoyance. Filthy porn exploring disgusting human waste and the resulting depravity of such acts should be curbed too. Access to porn on line needs to be self-regulated without government intervention. This is where Mr Ashcroft I think crosses the line. We already have laws outlawing pornography. What we don't need is the religious fanatics dictating their narrow views through government intervention on the American public.
The other big issue I have is the current push for a Anti-Gay marriage amendment to the US Constitution. The Constitution was written to give us rights, not take them away. This is an example of religious extremism at its worst. The president and the rest of the nation is missing the point. It's not about procreation or sex, its about love. Its about people seeking the blessing of the church by those who wish to declare their committed relationship publicly and in the eyes of God. Its about Equal rights not special rights. And its not about someone marring their dog or polygamy either.
I disagree on the war in Iraq. I said it before and I'll say it again. It should have been a surgical attack taking out Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, not the Shock and Awe we saw on TV destabilizing the country and causing nations to hate us. We should have gone in and killed him and then leave. The aftermath would not have been half as bad. Yes there would be fences to mend but not nearly as much as there is now if ever.
Bush's economic recovery is a joke. His pandering to Big Business. Allowing jobs to migrate off-shore, and the so called job recovery is laughable at best. If you like slinging hamburgers for $7 or $8 an hour a recovery. Mr President, we can't live on those type of wages. Something has to be done and I don't think you have an adequate plan in place., if at all.
I don't dislike you, I just don't like what you are doing and come election time I'm not voting for you. That you can take to the bank.
