The Question of the right to die with dignity
and Terry Schiavo

I have always been taught that the Soul inhabits the body until death
at which time it leaves and ascends into heaven to be with God. It is my
understanding that the body is a vessel for the soul here on earth. The
body is made up of organic material including the brain which functions
as the central clearing house for all the bodies automatic functions.
The Soul which inhabits the body controls all of the conscious and most
of the subconscious activities. Most of us are unaware of these things
as we go through life.
I was always told and I believe it is in the Bible that we were
given one body which we should take care of as best we can in order to
remain healthy and live as long as possible. I was also taught that we
should not abuse it because of the irreparable damage we may cause to
it. Of course we do make mistakes from time to time and these can be
repaired or reversed by stopping the bad practice or through medical
means. Don't get me wrong, medicine can do only do so much to repair the
damage. Damage that can not be repaired we must live with, like it or
not. Unfortunately some of us do things that can and does cause enough
damage that the body ceases to function and death occurs unless
immediate intervention is initiated in order to stop irreversible damage
from occurring. Sometimes, and this happens a lot, the treatment comes
too late and the damage is done.
In my opinion this is what happened to Terry Schiavo. Her eating
disorder caused her heart to stop beating and by the time help arrived
the brain sustained so much damage that she was no longer able to
function as we know it. Here is where the conundrum persists. The
question persists as to whether the Soul still inhabits her body,
trapped so to speak, and unable to communicate in any fashion, a form
of pergetory or personal hell if you will? Or has the soul gone on and
left the empty shell kept alive by artificial means on automatic pilot
by whatever is left of the brain? This we will never know and these and
other questions remain unanswered.
Who is right in this case? The parents whose undying love for their
daughter propels them with he hope that a miracle will happen and she
will someday awaken, or her realist husband who has even gone to medical
school in the hopes of finding a solution and realizing that there is
none, now wishes her to die and not be kept alive by artificial means, a
wish she expressed before this awful thing happened.
There is a time for everything. There is a time to be born and there
is a time to die and only God can make that decision. None of us should
play the role of God. It is not our decision no matter what our hopes are.
I pray that this awful ordeal finally comes to and end and that
Terry is allowed the dignity she deserves.

CQ CQ CQ Calling all Amateur Radio Operators

Hey I opologize. America is al little slow on the uptake as far as the Tsunami disaster is concerned. We're cetting up to speed like that old railroad train chugging along picking up speed by the minute. However I really don't think it is fair to call us a bunch of tightwads or stingy.

Griping over. Here is my suggestion

How about all you Amateur Radio Operators doing your part to help out by signing on to help communicating or relaying information by joining your local Amateur Radio Emergency Service
chapter in you area (ARES) and get on board helping with disaster communications. I'm sure that they can use all the help they can get.

Suggestions for giving personal items; Cooking utensils, clothing, Tents, and personal hygene items.
Businesses can help by providing building materials, hammers, nails, saws and roofing materials. Bigger companies if they can afford it, bulldozers and front end loaders and perhaps a couple of busses for transportation.
Of course food is always needed but it would be better to give money for this to your favorite legitimate charity so that they can supply those kind of things.

Lets get going here, times a wasting.

A suggestion for security in Iraq

So now we know that various Iraqis work in the US compounds where our military is stationed. We know that they wrap explosives around their bodies and once inside detonate them killing military personnel and others. Here is my suggestion on how to solve the situation easily.
Take the hint from the Diamond Mines in Africa. When a worker comes on duty he is required to change his clothing and put on another one supplied by the company. This requires them to strip down to their underwear thereby exposing any countermand they may be hiding on their bodies. In the case of Iraq, any explosives that may be strapped on to their bodies or anything else they may be hiding on their person.
Another possibility is the use of full body x-rays to reveal other contraband hidden inside the body. This may be costly but would eliminate all possible dangers.

Second Suggestion

Why not use civilian War Gamers to help plan strategy to fight the war in Iraq? I am sure that there are many very willing and knowledgeable people here in the USA who would jump at the chance to help. I'm not talking about computer gamers but the board gamers and the like out there who play war games and pit their knowledge of past wars against each other with miniature armies on mock ups of the terrain of actual battles. I really hope that you are taking this into consideration as this may be a source of strategy untapped by the armed forces strategists.

No Shit Sherlock

On December 6th a classified cable from the Central Intelligence Agency indicated that the situation in Iraq was deteriorating. How insightful. And just how long did it take you guys to figure that one out? A year? Now this is a prime example of the incompetence of Shrubs leadership. Not only is he incompetent, so are those in his administration under him.
I said it once a long time ago, and I'll say it again. The War in Iraq is like the war in Afghanistan. The former Soviet Union discovered that fact and got out while the getting was good and cut their losses, now it is our turn to high tail it and cut our losses too. Don't count on it though. Our pig headed Dumbo of a president hasn't gotten the message yet. Will he ever?
Mr President we are fighting a war whose borders are impossible to close, where insurgents are crossing the border supplying guns and munitions to the those fighting against us. It is like bailing out a sinking ship with a pail full of holes. It is a losing battle and the sooner we realize that the better. There are some battles that are unwinable. Obviously he never saw the movie War Games with Mathew Broadrick.

Its about time

I love it, I just love it. I just found an article in todays Washington Post about Advocacy groups using the media to get their views across. What a wonderful idea! Bravo. They are using newspapers and radio and tv to get their points across.

What some groups are doing is buying newspapers to use to get their point across. The catch is that they are not showing just who owns the paper. Just as NBC doesn't advertise that General Electric is its owner or that Disney owns ABC.
Other groups are producing TV dramas to get their point across to the general public. Personally I think that this is good because national syndicated media will not allow these points of view to be broadcast or printed. It is my strong feeling that we need to know the real truth and if this is the way we can get it out, all the better. I wish all the organizations the best of luck in their indevors.

The election is over. Now What?

OK where do we go from here? Bush got reelected and is on a roll. Personally I think we need to keep very close watch on him to make sure he doesn't go overboard. I think that we should watch his advisers as they are the ones pulling the strings, not Bush. Do the decisions ultimately come down from him or someone else, that is the question? I really don't think that the decisions are totally his.
We now have the Republicans and the Radical Right with a firm hold on government policy making. They want as much control as they can get and they will do it any way they can. So far they are doing just that. As an independent and more or less a centrist I tend to take the middle view. I tend to be one who takes the Devil's Advocate point of view a lot of times in order to get or force people to think about the issues at hand, I think it is imperative that we keep careful watch on what is happening. Those of us who tend to be more on the moderate side (if that is the right term) need to act as a brake in order to slow the process down in order to analyze the situation so that we do the right thing. By that I mean not going overboard with our zealousness and overreaction to current situations.
For those leaning to the left, you need to groom a leader who is more decisive and firm on the issues. It think that is one of the reasons Kerry lost. I also think someone with a less controversial past would be good too. By that I mean someone who's past actions don't contradict the issues now. He wavered way too much and relied too much on other opinions right up the last second before he would make a concrete decision. Only once did I see Bush waver and that was on the Gay issue of marriage. Other wise he stuck to his guns.
At least that is the way I see it.

My theory about Arafat

Don't you think it is a little unusual that the illness that Yassar Arafat has been kept secret from the public? It does me. This is my theory. MY THEORY IS THAT HE WAS ASSASSINATED.
The mysterious illness was probably caused by some sophisticated pathogen that would never be detected once administered. All it takes is a small pin prick to administer a fatal dose of a poison that can kill a person and then be metabolized and become undetectable.

Who did it we may never know. Was it one of his own or someone from another nation? Its useless to point fingers. The deed is done and he is gone. We do know that there has been constant fighting between Palestine and Israel and it seems that there is no end in sight. If Arafat remained in power I doubt if peace would come at any time. If he was assassinated it could pave the way for negotiations between the two and eventually lead to peace or at least an equitable settlement. Lets all hope that is the outcome.

So what is the truth? Will we ever know?

Whacko Scientists

Ok so they found a Midget or Dwarf skeleton which is thousands of years old. They are calling it a major find. What are they thinking? They are saying that they are smart just because of their brain size? Don't dwarfs heads seem much bigger than their bodies? Like Duh? These guys are supposed to have impressive College Degrees for pete sake. Give me a break. You mean to tell me that there weren't any dwarfs back in the stone age? Come on Guys, this isn't Rocket Science. I think someone is having a Major Brain Fart or they are way off track. I went to College too, but at least I use the gray matter God gave me. I think someone is pulling our leg.

Moving right along

Will the President meet the same fate as Kennedy?

Now its just speculation, but if President Bush keeps going in the same direction he has, my bet is that he may just face the same fate as Kennedy. It is a grim possibility that he must take into consideration if he wants to serve for four more years.

The question is where will it come from? I predict it may come from the extreme right or left who believe that Armageddon is upon us and that the Bush has emerged as the Beast of Revelations. That this is the beginning of the End Times. Or perhaps someone else is pulling the strings, not Bush but someone more sinister from inside.

Sounds pretty scary and far out doesn't it? The question is, can we be sure about that? Only time will tell.

Let 'em gloat. Its Gorilla warfare time

The right wing republicans are gloating. "We won, we won." The narrow minded religious extremists are feverishly planning their next attack on American freedom. Right wing news commentators are gloating over their victory at the polls while the rest of America walks away with their tails between their legs, or at least it seems that way.

The truth is that more Americans went to the polls than any time in recent history. They only won by three percentage points. Three percentage points. That tells me something and it should tell you something too. Regardless of the outcome of the election, the American people are fed up with the right wingers. We lost the election but we have not lost the fight. We must keep on fighting even harder than before if we want to keep what we have. We cannot stop.

We did get the word out and the American public is listening. Why do you think the election was so close. I for one will not listen to the doom sayers who claim that all is lost. It is not. We didn't win but we didn't lose either. The tactic now is to throw cold water on their plans and stop them in their tracks before even more damage is done. We need to challenge them at every turn and make them work for what they want. We have now got to make it very difficult for them to succeed. Its time for Gorilla warfare. Lets take it to the streets. Shout from the rooftops. Expose them for who they are. Dig up every piece of mud we can and fling it back in their faces. Its our time to take off the gloves and slug it out.
